The lunar nodes are not planets. They are the two points where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic — the reason eclipses happen at all. In astrology they are read as an axis: the south node is what comes easily and the north node is what you are growing toward. They are always exactly opposite each other, so this pair always travels together.

The south node in Leo: what you already have

Fixed fire: warmth that keeps burning. Leo wants to be seen doing something worth seeing — to give generously, create openly, and matter to the people in front of it.

With the south node here, this is the mode you default to without effort. It is genuinely yours — generous in a way that changes the temperature of a room, creative and unembarrassed about it. The catch is that comfort is not the same as growth. The south node is where you retreat when you are tired, and where you can hide for years while telling yourself you are working.

The overuse looks like this: needs the recognition it pretends not to need; pride that will not let it be corrected; drama when warmth is withdrawn.

The north node in Aquarius: what you are here to build

Fixed air: conviction held at a distance. Aquarius sees the system rather than the individual case, and would rather be right and separate than agreeable and absorbed.

The north node feels unnatural at first. Moving toward Aquarius means acting independently, conceptually, at a considered distance — which, coming from a Leo south node, will feel like the wrong instinct almost every time. That is the nature of the axis: the growth direction is never the comfortable one.

What it asks for in practice:

How the axis plays out

The nodes fall in a pair of opposite houses as well as opposite signs, and the houses are where you actually feel it. A Aquarius/Leo, third/ninth axis is a different life from the same signs across the fourth and tenth. Find yours in the birth chart report, then read the two houses involved.

Practically: when a decision offers you the familiar Leo route and an uncomfortable Aquarius one, and both are reasonable, the north node is the argument for the second.

Eclipses on this axis

Eclipses fall near the nodes, which is why eclipse seasons tend to move exactly the areas of life your nodes occupy. When eclipses land in Aquarius and Leo, this axis becomes the live question again — usually by forcing the issue rather than asking politely.

A report names the placement. A reading tells you what it is doing in your life, alongside everything else in the chart.
