The lunar nodes are not planets. They are the two points where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic — the reason eclipses happen at all. In astrology they are read as an axis: the south node is what comes easily and the north node is what you are growing toward. They are always exactly opposite each other, so this pair always travels together.
The south node in Taurus: what you already have
Fixed earth: the sign of holding. Taurus builds something solid and then stays with it — a body, a table, a way of living that can be touched. Its pace is not slowness, it is thoroughness.
With the south node here, this is the mode you default to without effort. It is genuinely yours — endurance that outlasts more dramatic energy, real skill with material things — money, food, land, craft. The catch is that comfort is not the same as growth. The south node is where you retreat when you are tired, and where you can hide for years while telling yourself you are working.
The overuse looks like this: digs in where moving would cost less; comfort quietly becoming a cage; slow to start, slower to change.
The north node in Scorpio: what you are here to build
Fixed water: depth that does not disperse. Scorpio wants what is real — the truth under the polite version, the bond that survives being tested. It goes all the way in or not at all.
The north node feels unnatural at first. Moving toward Scorpio means acting intensely, privately, and completely — which, coming from a Taurus south node, will feel like the wrong instinct almost every time. That is the nature of the axis: the growth direction is never the comfortable one.
What it asks for in practice:
- Sees through pretence instantly
- Stays present for what others cannot face
- Loyalty that is absolute once given
- Regenerates from what should have finished it
How the axis plays out
The nodes fall in a pair of opposite houses as well as opposite signs, and the houses are where you actually feel it. A Scorpio/Taurus, third/ninth axis is a different life from the same signs across the fourth and tenth. Find yours in the birth chart report, then read the two houses involved.
Practically: when a decision offers you the familiar Taurus route and an uncomfortable Scorpio one, and both are reasonable, the north node is the argument for the second.
Eclipses on this axis
Eclipses fall near the nodes, which is why eclipse seasons tend to move exactly the areas of life your nodes occupy. When eclipses land in Scorpio and Taurus, this axis becomes the live question again — usually by forcing the issue rather than asking politely.
